WordPress Accessibility Day is an annual, volunteer-organized virtual event aimed at breaking down the complexities of website accessibility for WordPress developers, designers, content creators, and users. The event equips them with the knowledge to build websites that are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. This year, BNP Engage is honored to sponsor WordPress Accessibility Day, and we’re excited to gain valuable insights from the leading advocates of WordPress accessibility!

What is website accessibility?

Website accessibility is the practice of designing and developing websites that ensure all users, including those with disabilities, can effectively access and interact with online content. It involves considering the needs of people with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments. Prioritizing accessibility is not only an ethical responsibility but also a way to improve usability for everyone. It helps businesses comply with laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and fosters inclusivity, contributing to a more equitable and user-friendly digital environment.

Why BNP Engage became a sponsor

Over the past year, our team of designers and developers has dedicated significant time to enhancing our accessibility expertise through specialized training. We have applied these best practices to both client and internal projects, and WordPress Accessibility Day presents a fantastic opportunity for us to continue learning and growing. By sponsoring this event, we aim to show our support for the accessibility community, connect with experts, and reaffirm our commitment to inclusive web design. Sponsoring this event also allows us to contribute to a broader conversation about creating a web that works for everyone.

When is WordPress Accessibility Day?

This year’s WordPress Accessibility Day will take place on October 9th and 10th. The event is free to attend and will be streamed virtually for a full 24 hours. Sessions are conducted via Zoom, with live captions and sign language interpretation to ensure accessibility for all attendees. Along with the invaluable insights and opportunities for collaboration, participants can look forward to virtual swag and prize giveaways. If you haven’t registered yet, now’s the perfect time to secure your spot!
